Should Chesterfield join Sheffield? – online poll

You may have heard that Sheffield City Region Combined Authority is proposing to expand to include the Chesterfield Borough Council area. If the plans go ahead some key services in Chesterfield would in future be controlled by the combined authority and a Sheffield City Region Mayor who would be elected in May next year.

Derbyshire County Council has launched an online poll to find out what people think. It asks the following important questions which the county council believes should have been included in the official consultation launched by Sheffield City Region:

  1. Do you think Chesterfield should become a full member of Sheffield City Region?
  2. Do you think a future Sheffield Mayor should be able to make decisions about some services in Chesterfield
  3. Do you think the Government should give more powers to Derbyshire councils to make decisions about services for Derbyshire people?

Find out why the county council doesn’t agree with the plans and take part in the online poll.

The results of the online poll will be shared with Sheffield City Region after the official consultation.

There will be no referendum. You only have until 12 August to have your say and contact your councillor or MP.
