Savings on broadband connections in Derbyshire

Eligible businesses, registered charities, social enterprises and sole traders can apply for up to £3,000 to help install Superfast Broadband no matter where in Derbyshire they are based. Local firms can apply individually or as a group to connect bigger or more complicated premises such as an office block. The vouchers will only be available if the installation of your new broadband connection costs over £100.  The connection must be for a business premises, but an application for a home connection can still apply if it is the main work base.  It does not apply for occasional home workers.  There is a minimum sign up of a 6 month contract with any chosen broadband provider.  There are some detailed requirements on speed that you should check before applying, click here for more information.

To be eligible, the business must NOT have received over 200,000 Euros (approximately £120,000) of public sector grant funding in the last three years.  If an application is successful the participating city (in this case Derby City Council) will directly pay the applicant's chosen supplier the sum of the voucher grant awarded.  The applicant will be responsible for the payment of the VAT element of the invoice, any remaining sum owed over and above the value of the voucher and also the ongoing line rental.  There are some sectors which are excluded, and therefore ineligible for the scheme.  In general these are fisheries, processing and marketing of agriculture products, coal, steel and shipbuilding and restrictions in the education sector.

The broadband Connection Vouchers scheme will be administered locally on behalf of central Government by Derby City Council. To check whether your business is eligible or for more information visit  the Connection Vouchers website and enter the postcode of your business or go to Superconnected Derby, tel: 01332 742 540 or email: shane.chaddha@derby.gov.uk. Please note that currently (as of 3rd September 2015) the Superconnected Derby website states that this is available within Derby City.  However, it IS available across all of Derbyshire.  This is available until March 2016.
