Derbyshire Village Halls on the big screen

Popular poet, Ian McMillan, shared his love of village halls on BBC Inside Out East Midlands on Monday 24th February 2020. Filmed during Village Halls Week last month, Ian first went to the brand new hall at Repton in South Derbyshire. From testing the sprung floor to cutting a cake and digging out the iconic giant teapot.

He then went on to Newton Solney near Burton-on-Trent where he admired the Village Hall Noticeboard then met up with local historian Ben Robinson in the village hall Rifle Range, home of Newton Solney Rifle Club, still active today.

Mugginton Village Hall between Belper and Ashbourne was hosting a games club when Ian popped in to meet our very own Helena Stubbs. A popular afternoon group where locals meet up to play a variety of board games, dominos and more over a cuppa and a biscuit (or two).
