Sustainable Village Halls Conference

Thank you to everyone that helped make the conference such a success - the speakers, the exhibitors, the venue and of course the delegates.

We had over 50 delegates turn up on a day when floods in the local area and further afield closed numerous roads and impacted on many people around Derbyshire and beyond.

The feedback forms are yet to be formally analysed, but from first glance it seems that everyone enjoyed the day and found it to be full of useful information.

David Emerson CBE, Chair of ACRE

RAD was particularly honoured that David opened the event and that his address was a fantastic tribute to the role of village halls and the dedicated volunteers that run them.

Opening Address

Sally Soady - Advisor for Plunkett Foundation

Sally spoke about improving the long term sustainability of community buildings and how the Plunkett Foundation can help.

Shamshad Walker - Shamshad Walker Marketing

Shamshad's presentation "The Art of Communication" gave some examples of successful digital marketing for halls.

Kyran Farrell & John Perks - Repton Village Hall

Kyran and John spoke about the years of work that have gone in to planning, funding and building Repton Village Hall.

Sadly, due to the weather and floods, Rachel Veitch-Straw, Investment Manager & Adrian Bean, Lead Investment Manager from Key Fund were able to attend.

Delegates to select 2 out of the 6 workshops to attend during the afternoon session.  Currently we have supporting documents for the Income Generation and Fundraising workshop and Sustainable Planning workshop.
