Are you passionate about Derbyshire?

Do you have some time to spare?

We are looking for 3 Trustees to support us in our belief that no one should be unfairly disadvantaged because they live in a rural area.

Rural Action Derbyshire (RAD) can trace its roots back to 1924 when one of its main priorities was to lobby to bring electricity to rural areas.

Our primary ambition for the next three years is to accelerate our transformation into a social enterprise. This means we will be less dependent on grants and donations that are becoming harder to come by.

As a result we are looking for 3 people to join our Board of Trustees/Directors.

We are seeking individuals who are open-minded, comfortable with change, who have proven they can work in a team and who know why they would want to be a Trustee of RAD.

The types of experience that we are particularly looking to add into the mix are in the areas of:

  • Entrepreneurial business growth
  • Retail sales
  • Digital
  • Mental health and wellbeing
  • Rural economy
  • Environmental sustainability

With the following personal attributes:

  • The skills to analyse strategies and draw out the implications and opportunities
  • A commitment to Rural Action Derbyshire and its values and ethics
  • Sound, independent judgement
  • A willingness to speak your mind
  • A willingness and ability to devote the necessary time and effort
  • An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
  • An ability to work effectively as a member of a team
  • To embrace Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership

The value of people

We are a passionate team of staff and trustees working for the communities and people of rural Derbyshire. And there are thousands of hard working volunteers who give their time in their community. We salute them and we support them.

We have a beautiful county, but there is hardship all around which often goes unseen.

If you want to join us to help with the great work we do, then we would love to hear from you.
