Rural Domestic Abuse - it's everyone's business

1 in 3 women are victims of domestic abuse during their lifetime, as are 1 in 7 men.

The only way we can stop abuse from happening is by raising awareness of how and why it happens and helping signpost the people involved, to support.

The Willow Project is delivering  half day training seminars for those living or working in Derbyshire to do just this.

The training is funded by Derbyshire's Police and Crime Commissioner.

This half-day training will be split into two sections. There will be an hour long e-learning component prior to the training session, followed by a 2½ hour zoom training session, which will cover the following objectives:-​

• Recognise how domestic abuse in rural areas differs from domestic abuse in urban areas​
• Have confidence in recognising the signs of domestic abuse in victims​
• Use skills to support victims​
• Have knowledge of local domestic abuse services and how to signpost to them​
• Recognise the additional barriers to leaving which victims face in rural communities​
• Have confidence to promote domestic abuse awareness and services in your rural communities

Training takes place in small groups online. You will need to be able to access Zoom via a work or personal device to participate in the training.

This training is available to people who live or work in Derbyshire but if you are outside you can also purchase a ticket and attend.
