FREE Recognising Digital Exclusion Awareness Training

In an effort to combat digital exclusion in rural areas, a new training scheme is being offered to people in Derbyshire. 

The Digital Exclusion Awareness training workshop is being piloted by Rural Action Derbyshire’s Digital Support Derbyshire project and partners at Workpays.  

In today’s world, digital skills are essential in daily life. From ordering groceries and shopping online to banking and connecting with family and friends, we rely on a variety of digital devices, and yet many people have been left behind. Those in isolated rural areas struggle not only with decreased broadband connectivity but also have a greater need for those essential online resources to live. 

Recognising Digital Exclusion Awareness training aims to raise awareness of Digital Exclusion and the support available for people in Derbyshire. 

It will introduce frontline workers, volunteers, and general members of the public to the impact that Digital Exclusion has on individuals, enabling them to understand how they can support people they know informally in the community, such as friends, relatives, neighbours, or in a work/volunteer role.  

The workshop will be a One-Day Training Session and will be available to take on three different days to make sure that people can get involved on a date that is convenient for them. Two sessions will take place in venues around Derbyshire, and one will be online only.

Following the training, participants might wish to develop this further by joining an existing local Digital Inclusion project and becoming a Digital Champion.  

The sessions will be open to anyone working or volunteering in frontline roles and members of the public. They do not need to be members of the Digital Support Network.
