Two national awards up for grabs

Rural Action Derbyshire (RAD) is in the running to be named one of the best charities in the UK after being shortlisted for two national awards.

RAD is Regional Finalist for the Rural Business Awards 2021/22 in the best rural social enterprise, charity and community project category and shortlisted for Best Small Charity in the Charity Times Awards 2021.

We have been working hard supporting rural communities across Derbyshire since 1924. With just 14 employees we work with food banks and other community food projects, help with transport, support people in poverty, run Suicide Awareness and Rural Domestic Abuse training, offer advice to village halls, support the farming community and help people access digital services.

Beverley Parker, our CEO says: “It is a wonderful boost for the whole team at RAD to be recognized for the hard work over the last year. The impact of covid on communities across Derbyshire has been significant and I am so proud of the way staff and volunteers were able to adapt to make sure we did everything we could to help people most in need during such a difficult time.

“It is hoped that these nominations for national awards will help raise our profile so that more people are aware of the great work we do.”

The Charity Times Awards ceremony take place in London on 9th September 2021 where RAD will be up against seven other small charities for their chance to take the prestigious Small Charity of the Year award home to Derbyshire.

The Rural Business Awards regional final will be held virtually in October 2021, when RAD will battle it out with two other rural social enterprises, charities and community projects from across the Midlands. If successful they will proceed to the National Final that takes place early next year.

Wish us luck!
