Digital Support Derbyshire and Citizens Online co-hosted a Digital Inclusion Network Meeting on Thursday 2nd March.

The key theme for the meeting was Developing a better understanding of digital poverty in Derbyshire’s rural areas, and the challenges of supporting these communities with digital inclusion activities. We were joined by guest speaker Dr Sharon Wagg, Lecturer in Library and Information Management at the University of Sheffield. Sharon completed her PhD on ‘Digital Inclusion Initiative Provision in UK Rural Communities’ and is continuing this work at the University of Sheffield.

 There was also:

  • An update from the Derbyshire Digital Inclusion Network
  • An update from Citizens Online regarding the Derbyshire County Digital Inclusion Strategy
  • Breakout room discussions around rural digital inclusion; digital champions and a general networking opportunity.
