Exciting job opportunities with us

We are looking for new staff members to our close-knit team, covering a range of areas including community development, business management, project coordination and digital development.

Recruiting for a number of exciting roles, we are looking for individuals who have a spectrum of skills, are driven and intuitive, and are committed to eradicating rural disadvantage.

This recruitment covers a variety of positions, including:

  • someone with business management experience, a strategic thinker who can identify opportunities, work with partners and make things happen;
  • a community development officer with an interest in engaging with countryside communities and identifying opportunities to tackle rural issues;
  • a project coordinator to support work around access to affordable food;
  • someone with excellent digital skills to help with integration of CRM, website and finance systems as well as creating content for digital marketing platforms.

We take an inclusive approach to recruitment and whilst there will be the usual formal application stage, the first step is to invite people interested in working for us to send in their CV and, if they wish, attend an open recruitment event via Zoom (click on links below) to find out more about the roles.

These will take place at 10am on Friday 10th February and 6pm on Wednesday 15th February.

The opportunities are available on full-time, part-time, job share or secondment bases, and will be based at our office in Matlock, with flexible working options available. Some travel across Derbyshire may also be expected to support community projects.

We are a National Living Wage organisation, ensuring all members of staff are paid fairly and receive opportunities to learn new skills and take on new challenges.

RAD has a particularly strong record of developing graduates and those in the early stages of their career, with several recent employees joining straight out of university, gaining vital experience that has enabled them to grow as a worker and a person.

This includes Skye Peat, who arrived on the Kickstart scheme and was shortlisted for Apprentice of the Year at the 2022 Derbyshire Business Awards, and George White, who joined as an intern and now works as a Marketing Executive.

Beverley Parker, CEO at Rural Action Derbyshire, said: “We’re excited to bring in talented new staff to help continue and expand our work tackling rural disadvantage. I am so proud of our team and what they have achieved, especially their creativity in adapting services during covid.

“We are now looking for more people to join our friendly and supportive team to bring their ideas, enthusiasm and commitment to rural communities”

George White, Marketing Executive, added: “Rural Action Derbyshire is a fantastic place to work. I initially joined on a summer internship back in 2019 but enjoyed collaborating with the team so much that I have been a part of RAD in some capacity ever since, joining permanently just over a year ago.

I have received training on everything from website management to video editing, and have had the opportunity to learn from some of the most talented, experienced people working in the third sector today. Yet the most important thing, for me, is knowing that I am using my skills to help vulnerable people in my own area. Seeing RAD’s work first-hand, you witness how big a difference this small charity makes every day.”

Personal development is not just for those in the early stages of their career. All staff are encouraged to develop their skills and pursue career goals and continue with their professional development. Emma Simpson, who first started at RAD in 2006 has just been recognised for her work highlighting the issues around rural fuel poverty.

Those wanting to apply for these opportunities can do so by letting RAD know what you can offer, your salary expectations and how we can support you, as soon as possible. Please get in touch with Beverley Parker on 01629 592971 or [email protected].
