About our work

Despite its idyllic image, living in a rural area is not without its challenges. Before the arrival of COVID-19, there were pockets of isolation and deprivation within the rural communities of Derbyshire. With service development often focused on urban areas, limited development of affordable housing, poor transport links and reduced access to jobs and training, rural disadvantage places an additional strain on our most vulnerable and low-income groups. COVID-19 has both highlighted and exacerbated the issues facing many of Derbyshire's rural residents.

Working in partnership with public, private and voluntary organisations, Rural Action Derbyshire is helping to address the disadvantages that many Derbyshire residents are facing.

Our current areas of work are focused on:

Promoting financial inclusion and financial capability
Addressing food insecurity
Addressing fuel insecurity
Finding ways to reach and support vulnerable people in isolated communities
